Bereket Aweke was awarded a 2017-2018 Humphrey Fellowship (U.S. Department of State-funded exchange) to Vanderbilt University (for mid-career professionals to participate in one year of non-degree graduate study and professional development) where he developed plans to improve teacher retention and satisfaction in primary schools. He has 12 years of experience in the education and training sectors, including working as a teacher, coordinator and principal.

 

He founded a consulting/training company, “Think Africa,” focused on delivering 21st century teaching methodologies in the education and business sectors.

 

Bereket Aweke graduated from Addis Ababa University and worked with various organizations as a teacher, training program director and training department head. He has also co-founded a program “Thinking Schools Ethiopia” in collaboration with Thinking Schools International based in UK and USA. Bereket, in addition to his role of co-founder, is a certified trainer in thinking methodologies and led the program for three years as coordinator and later as program director in Ethiopia. This is depicted in the Thinking Schools book “Pathways to Thinking Schools “ which Bereket co-authored a chapter.

 

Having achieved this, he started his own training and consultancy firm “Think Africa” envisioning to be a leading company in leveraging Ethiopia’s human capital through delivering 21st century training and consultancy for education, business and development sectors, bringing

excellence and skill development to Ethiopia and Africa.

 

In this regard Think Africa has partnered with renowned consultants around the world to assist Ethiopian companies’ and education institutions to get acquainted with global trends and creative thinking strategies. In doing so, he has so far worked with the growing financial sector, service and manufacturing industries as well as numerous schools.
