’City within the City’’ Project Week took place in Addis Ababa to create an inclusive community and create an inclusive community and promote an inclusive environment at TVET Colleges

‘’City within the City’’ is an Inclusive Project, which aims to create an inclusive community where children and adults with and without disabilities establish their special city and construct furnish and decorate traditional and modern houses specifically accessible for People with Disabilities. For constructing their inclusive city all kind of crafts and skills were offered to the kids e.g. graphic prints, carpet knotting, weaving, sewing, plumbing, ICT and basic electricity, paper mache, wood sculpturing and recycling. In this creative environment the kids were free to discover whatever they liked and to engage in their favourite craft activities in order to design and build their city.

This year both Entoto and Tegbare-id PTC, realised one fascinating inclusive “City within the City” project on their premises, inviting students aged 10 – 15 from their surrounding Gullele or Lideta sub-city schools to actively participate and collaborate for one week and learn a lot about vocational opportunities for their future. There was participation of 170 students that actively participated.

“City within the City” is based on the 3-year exchange between the sister cities Addis Ababa and Leipzig (Germany). The Project “Inclusive Commune” in Addis Ababa is supported by German Engagement Global, as well as, all partners involved in Addis
