The third annual glamourous Bag Show is not to be missed and will be held at Sheraton Hotel on Friday,  February 22 from 6pm. This year, the Bag Show is taking the annual event to new heights by featuring world music artist Iri Di, from the duo band K-Iri.  After a rigorous process, the top eleven Ethiopian bag designers have been selected to showcase their work on stage.

In addition, a pop-up shop featuring over 20 designers will take place right after the show and also on Saturday February 23rd,

10am-6pm.

This event raises money for Our Father’s Kitchen, a feeding program for underprivileged children.  Funds are raised through a percentage of the sales from the pop-up shop as well as 100% of the money raised from the auction that takes place at the end of the event.

For years and years beautiful leather bags have been sold and marketed abroad with the leather originating from Ethiopia. However, Ethiopia, as the country of origin, was rarely ever given the credit it deserved.

Ethiopia thankfully has come a long way since then with not only quality Ethiopian leather now being highlighted but also innovative and creative Ethiopian designers producing the bags and being recognized globally!

The Bag Show provides a unique opportunity to view and purchase one-of-a-kind gorgeous bags beautifully crafted while supporting a great local charity.

The Bag Show also endeavors to highlight new leather artisans every year. This year new designers include Youngil Song from Hanure Manufacturing and Birkti Markose from Marcus Leather and the return of Aday Schultz from Zaaf.

The Top 11 Runway designers this year are as follows:

Flaminia Paterno – Afar

Anna Getaneh – African Mosaique

Aynalem Ayele – Ayni’s design

Beza Adugna – Ruby

Samrawit – Samra Leather

Youngil Song – Hanure Manufacturing
