Let me begin with a beautiful quote about NATURE:

“The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire” Pamela Hansford Johnson

One of the latest trend in wellness is known as “grounding” or “earthing”. This is when the skin comes into contact with the ground and the body absorbs negatively-charged electrons from the earth.

There are about 100 trillion cells in the human body. And all our cells are made of atoms and atoms possess positive and negative charges. Healthy atoms have a negative charge because they possess more electrons. If an electron is stolen from an atom it will be positively charged. In this state, it is called a free radical, which has a potential of damaging our health. The best way to stop the damage caused by free radicals is by supplying the body with powerful antioxidants or by supplying the body with negative electrons through grounding, a contact with mother earth.

Now, is there is a science behind earthing? Yes, a profound one. A multi-disciplinary research conducted by James L. Oschman, Gaetan Chevalier and Richard Brown has revealed that electrically conductive contact of the human body with the surface of the Earth produces intriguing effects on physiology and health. Such effects relate to inflammation, immune responses, wound healing, and prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

The most common causes of death and disability in the developed and developing countries are chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes etc. The mechanisms connecting chronic inflammation with chronic disease is now an undisputable fact.

When it comes to cardiovascular disease, grounding has the potential to reduces some risk factors such as blood thinning effect. Further, the research showed that grounding Improves Sleep, helps manage pain and Stress, normalizes cortisol (a stress hormone). Its anti-aging effects is also of great interest and should be explored further.

Now, could grounding (earthing) be one of the most powerful tool to prevent and combat diseases? I hope so.

Let me finish with another beautiful quote: “Study Nature, love Nature, stay close to Nature. It will never fail you” Frank Llyod Wright

New year’s resolution for 2019? Let us stay close to NATURE.
